“Southeast Asia has a real grip on me. From the very first time I went there, it was a fulfillment of my childhood fantasies of the way travel should be.”
Anthony Bourdain

The Story
Pletoura began with a belief: the best travel happens between the lines of an itinerary.
It’s found in the stories shared over a meal in Mulu—not just the cave itself. It’s in the spontaneous sunrise ferry ride where the journey quietly becomes the destination. Too often, Southeast Asia is reduced to a “best-of” checklist. Pletoura exists to go deeper.
I’ve moved away from the “travel agency” model to build something more human. I don’t run assembly-line tours. Instead, I curate and personally host small-group expeditions—bringing together like-minded people to explore the region the way it was meant to be seen: raw, flexible, and grounded.

The Person Behind Pletoura
I’m Angie, a Singapore-based Malaysian traveller with a deep-seated obsession with the backroads of Southeast Asia.
Pletoura isn’t a faceless agency; it’s the result of my own years spent getting lost (and found) across the world. I started this because I wanted to share the version of travel I love most—the kind that involves charming guesthouses, long rides on winding roads, and the freedom to change plans when something interesting appears on the horizon.
When you join a journey, you’re joining me. I personally map every route, vet every “Base” guesthouse, and lead the group on the ground. My goal is to be the “savvy friend” who handles the heavy lifting of logistics, so you can focus on the experience.
How These Journeys Work
Pletoura focuses on two distinct ways of moving through the region:
- Motorbike Expeditions: Rugged, technical, and liberating.
- Backpacking Routes: Immersive, slow-paced, and local.
Each route has a “Base Itinerary”—a thoughtfully mapped foundation of logistics, local stays, and key experiences. From there, we leave room.
Plans evolve based on the weather, the group’s energy, or a local recommendation we pick up along the way. Decisions are collaborative. You’ll always know the direction, but the details aren’t scripted. This isn’t a tour; it’s a shared journey.

Where We Are Now
Pletoura has evolved into a founder-led community. I personally plan and lead every trip, ensuring the original spirit of discovery stays intact.
Current journeys are offered as “Founder’s Runs“—an invitation to join me on the road and help shape what this community becomes. This isn’t about ticking off boxes; it’s about building a network of thoughtful travelers who return, reconnect, and keep exploring Southeast Asia together.
Each journey is one chapter. The relationships built along the way are the foundation.
