What is a "trip host"? Can I be one?
First things first: a trip host is not a tour guide. A host is a friend who shows others around and shares their unique perspective on places and things. They can even organize activities that showcase local living. That means you don’t have to be a native to Southeast Asia to be a great host—you can simply be someone who is well-acquainted with the local culture, and have stayed (and intend to continue staying) in the region long-term.
What does a Pletoura host do?
A Pletoura host plans itineraries and organises trips in Southeast Asia—from food journeys to road trips, water adventures, city explorations, and beyond. It doesn’t have to be a place of your expertise, but they could be places that you are confident in getting around. We’re open to your ideas! However, please keep in mind that all activities must meet local regulations and safety standards, and you’ll need the appropriate licenses where applicable.
How does the application process work?
Once you submit your application, we’ll conduct a preliminary assessment, which should take no more than a week. If you pass, we’ll set up a video call to get to know you better, answer your questions, and set expectations. We might even go on a test run with you if it’s convenient! Once approved, we’ll provide you with forms to send us the required content to build your profile and trips. We’ll have the content ready for you in no more than a week, so you can start marketing your trips!
Can I provide only scheduled trips, or only open trips?
We understand that everyone has different preferences, which is why you have the option to offer scheduled trips or open-date bookings, or both! It’s completely up to you and your availability. Just let us know whenever you’d like to offer either option, and we’ll work with you to make it happen.
How do bookings and payments work?
Simply focus on planning and hosting and leave the logistics to us. You’ll be given forms to build your trip, and then be notified of new bookings through WhatsApp and/or email. We only kindly ask that you respond within 2 working days.
You have the option to receive your earnings in a timely manner or after any number of trips, and we’ll send payment via bank transfer once the full payment has been made and the trip(s) are completed.
How much is the commission?
We’re committed to helping you earn more from your trips, and that’s why we take a small commission of 10%. The rest is paid out to you, so you can focus on creating the best possible experience for your guests!
Are my safety and security ensured?
At Pletoura, we take your safety very seriously. If you encounter any issues before, during, or after your trip, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We also understand that there may be circumstances that could compromise your safety, and we respect your right to refuse service in those situations. Just let us know in advance to avoid any inconvenience for your customers.
What happens if I'm not available for a certain period of time?
At Pletoura, we prioritize the availability of our hosts, which is why our processes are currently managed manually. If a host remains inactive, without any trips or responses, for a period of one month, we will regrettably have to remove them from our list. That is why your dedication and engagement play a vital role in maintaining the vibrancy of our community! If you anticipate being away for a known period of time, please do inform us ahead of time so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
